Above
you will see what the weather is like right now at Science Bob's
Lab in Newton, MA.
A special weather station measures the weather and sends it to this
web site 24 hours day!

- TEMP: This
is the temperature in Fahrenheit outside the front door of the
lab.
- HI: The
red arrow shows the highest temperature outside today.
- LO: The
green arrow shows the lowest temperature outside today.
- WIND: This
is how fast the wind is blowing on the roof of the lab right
now. It is measured in Miles Per Hour (mph). 5mph is just a
breeze. 15 mph will mave a flag wave, 25 mph winds can turn
umbrellas insdie out- is it windy right now?
- WIND DIRECTION: The
blue guage is the direction that the wind is blowing from. In
this part of the country, if it is blowing from the east, it
may get humid and bring rain or snow as the wind carries moisture
from the Atlantic Ocean. Generally wind from the NORTH brings
COOLER air and wind from the SOUTH brings WARMER weather.
- GUST: This
is the highest wind speed measured in the last 15 minutes.
- HUMIDITY: This
is the amount of humidity in the air. Humid air in the summer
can make it feel even hotter. When it rains, there is obviously
more humidity in the air.
- BAROMETER: This
is the BAROMETER, or measure of air pressure - the lower the
number the more likely it will rain or be stormy. The higher
the number the more likely it will be clear weather.
- RAIN: This
is how much it has rained outside the lab today.
- TOTAL RAIN: This
is the total amount of rain in inches we have had outside the
lab since January 2003.
The picture in the upper right shows
what the current weather is like out the window. That image comes
from sensors at Logan Airport in Boston, pretty cool, huh?
